Apprentices approaching end point assessment (EPA) for the HR Consultant/Partner or HR Support standards can book a mock discussion.
Take part in a mock professional discussion to:
- Prepare for your professional discussion in end point assessment
- Know what to expect and the type of questions you’ll be asked
- Receive feedback on the answers you give.

How does it work?
The mock professional discussion will be carried out remotely, by video call. It will be conducted by a qualified assessor who is experienced in assessing the HR Consultant/Partner and HR Support standards.
The call will last 30 minutes and will include:
- Introduction, ID checks and setting the scene
- Questions on two randomly selected skills and behaviours from the assessment plan
- Your chance to ask the assessor any questions.
After the call, you’ll receive a sheet with feedback on the responses you gave. This is intended to give guidance as to what the assessor is looking for, and how fully your response met the assessment criteria. As this is not a full professional discussion, you will not receive a grade.
Tip:
To get the most out of your mock professional discussion, treat it as you would the real assessment. This includes booking a quiet room and preparing to answer questions on any of the skills and behaviours from the assessment plan.

It’s important to know…
The assessor you have for the mock professional discussion will not be the same assessor you have for your actual end point assessment. The aim of the mock is to make apprentices comfortable and prepare them for EPA by experiencing a professional discussion via video call.
Feedback given should not be taken as advice on what to say in the final assessment or how to achieve a Pass or Distinction grade.
Cost
The mock professional discussion for HR costs £90.
Apprentices are not expected to pay any costs related to end point assessment themselves.
