What did you do to prepare for EPA?
I downloaded and read all of the guidance and through the toolkit a couple of times, and continued to refer to it throughout. It was really useful in understanding the layout of the project, and being able to monitor my progress in meeting the KSBs.
What were your feelings prior to any assessments taking place, compared to after the event?
Mostly nervous! I have a tendency to overthink and put a lot of pressure on myself, but the whole experience was really straightforward and I felt so supported. Once the assessments were complete, I definitely wondered what I had been worrying about!
How would you describe your EPA experience with your assessor and 1st for EPA in general?
My assessors were so lovely and made me feel much more relaxed. They were professional throughout, as well as the support staff I spoke to, and really helped everything run smoothly.
Would you recommend 1st for EPA to a friend?
Absolutely! Such a simple process and great support provided.
Do you have any tips for someone going through the EPA process?
Read through all of the guidance, then read it again… and again! And don’t be afraid to reach out if you have any questions, or need some clarification.
What have you done since completing your apprenticeship?
I’m still with my employer, about to start another short course, and in the process of developing even more to hopefully get another promotion!
