What does EPA involve for Software Developer?
The end point assessment, or EPA, for the Software Developer standard is made up of two components:
- Work-based project with questioning
- Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio
EPA1: Work-based project with questioning
The project should be based upon a customer or stakeholder specification requiring the apprentice to respond to either a specific problem, a recurring issue, or an idea/opportunity.
The project report should be in the form of an electronic report comprising narrative, one or more artefacts, and visual infographics as necessary. The written report should be 4,500 words, submitted a maximum of 9 weeks of gateway approval, and the apprentice will then undertake a 60-minute questioning with a 1st for EPA assessor.
EPA 2: Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio
The professional discussion is carried out by video call. It lasts 60 minutes and 1st for EPA provides guidance, including how to prepare and example questions.
