What does EPA involve for HR Consultant/Partner?
The end point assessment, or EPA, for the HR Consultant/Partner standard has two elements. These are:
- Consultative Project
- Professional Discussion
EPA 1: The Consultative Project
The Consultative Project must be a real piece of work done by the apprentice in their role. They will be required to write a project that demonstrates how they have applied their knowledge and skills, as described in the assessment criteria.
The project should describe a situation where the apprentice successfully worked with a customer (probably an internal one) to deliver a specific piece of HR work or provide a HR solution(s) for them.
The project should be 5000 words +/- 10%.
Full guidance and resources will be provided by 1st for EPA.
EPA 2: The Professional Discussion
The Professional Discussion takes the format of a series of questions to assess your skills and behaviours. It takes place after the Consultative Project has been completed and assessed.
The Professional Discussion lasts 60-75 minutes and will be carried out by recorded video call.
Full guidance and resources will be provided by 1st for EPA.

How does EPA work?
-
The apprentice’s employer chooses an end point assessment organisation (EPAO), often with the help of their training provider.
-
The training provider registers the apprentice with the EPAO, giving an expected date for EPA.
-
The apprentice completes Gateway and schedules their EPA.
-
1st for EPA provides full support and guidance to help the apprentice prepare for EPA.
-
EPA is carried out with a qualified assessor.
-
1st for EPA carries out quality checks, then notifies the apprentice of their results and claims their completion certificate from the ESFA.
What does EPA cost for HR Consultant/Partner?
Our EPA for the HR Consultant/Partner apprenticeship standards is £975.
If a re-sit is needed, this is charged at £350 for either the Consultative Project or Professional Discussion.
If a re-take is needed, this is charged at the full fee of £975.
