What does EPA involve for Applications Support Lead?

The end point assessment, or EPA, for Applications Support Lead includes three assessment methods:

  1. Project report with questions and answers
  2. Professional discussion (underpinned by a portfolio)
  3. Knowledge test

EPA 1: Project report with questions and answers

The project will be a significant piece of work that has a real business benefit to the employer. Apprentices will have up to 10 weeks to complete and submit a report of up to 4,500 words.

The questions and answers will last for 60 minutes, and is usually carried out by video call between the apprentice and assessor.

EPA 2: Professional discussion (underpinned by a portfolio)

The professional discussion lasts 60 minutes. It’s a two-way conversation between the apprentice and the assessor, which usually takes place by video call.

EPA 3: Knowledge test

This is a multiple-choice test containing 40 questions. Apprentices carry out the test online, invigilated by 1st for EPA. The test lasts 60 minutes.

  • Assessment is carried out with a qualified assessor.

  • 1st for EPA carries out quality checks, then issues results and claims the apprentice’s completion certificate.
