What does Marketing Manager EPA involve?
The end point assessment, or EPA, for the Marketing Manager standard is made up of two components:
- Project showcase, involving the creation of a marketing plan
- Professional discussion
EPA 1: Project showcase
The apprentice must create a marketing plan based on a real need of their employer organisation. The showcase requires apprentices to submit a 4000 word report, then take part in a 20 minute presentation and 30 minute Q&A session with a trained assessor.
EPA 2: Professional discussion
This is a 70 minute discussion between the apprentice and the assessor, carried out via video call. The discussion will typically include 5 competency-based questions and 5 scenario-based questions.
Full guidance and resources will be provided by 1st for EPA, including a Marketing Manager Toolkit that details the end point assessment and how to prepare for it. Both the showcase and professional discussion will be recorded.

The apprentice completes Gateway and schedules their EPA.
1st for EPA provides full support and guidance to help the apprentice prepare for EPA.
EPA is carried out with a qualified assessor.
1st for EPA carries out quality checks, then emails the apprentice their results and claims their completion certificate from the ESFA.
